DIAMOND™ Mice are now available for purchase off-the-shelf with diet and genetic modifications
To aid in research and to enable head-to-head comparisons between multiple pathways on a single model, Metabaxis is the first vendor to offer the DIAMOND™ mouse on multiple diets.
The DIAMONDTM Mice
Off-the-shelf availability permits researchers to start studies immediately, saving months of conditioning time and preserving vivarium space for active studies rather than conditioning cohorts. As a full-service CRO, MetabAxis can also be contracted to run the study for you.
Metabaxis offers DIO GAN-DIAMOND™, CD-HFD DIAMOND™, and CCl4-HFD DIAMOND™ mice. Additionally, the PNPLA3 mouse gene has been added germline to DIAMOND™ mice with accelerated pathology development.

|The RD 09100310 and A06071302 can be purchased directly through Research Diets with a lead time of 5-7 days. Metabaxis does not provide RD 09100310 or A06071302 outside of regular shipping and suggests replacing any diet leftover from shipping. It is suggested to create an account prior to purchase.|

|The RD Western Diet can be purchased directly through Research Diets with a lead time of 5-7 days. Metabaxis can provide a small amount of extra food until supplies arrive from Research Diets upon request but suggests creating an account prior to purchase. Sugar can be purchased in bulk from Fisher or can be purchased from Metabaxis in pre-packaged amounts on request.|
Metabaxis maintains an inventory of C57B6/S129J male mice conditioned on the Gubra Amylin Diet (GAN). DIAMOND™ males are put on this diet at six weeks of age and housed at high density. Control males are housed in the same location, also at high density, and are fed RD 09100310 diet. Control males are also generated simultaneously as GAN diet mice. The GAN DIAMOND™ mice are excellent for metabolic studies looking at cholesterol, lipids, and inflammation. Please give a four week lead time for any mice over 32 weeks.
Metabaxis maintains an inventory of C57B6/S129J male mice with the mouse PNPLA3 gene knocked in and conditioned on RD Western Diet D12079D. DIAMOND™ males are put on this diet at six weeks of age and housed at high density. Control males are also generated simultaneously as western diet mice by feeding Teklad 7012 diet. PNPLA3 DIAMOND™ mice have similar pathology as original DIAMOND™ mice but on an accelerated time scale. We are expanding the colony as fast as possible to meet demand, this model will be available 6/30/21.
Modified diet GAN DIAMOND™ mice in transit for any period of time (more than 48 hours by ground or any air transit) can lose 10-20% of their body weight and may require extended acclimation (two or more weeks). Weight loss induced by transit may delay disease phenotype relative to animals which have remained in the same facility for the entire conditioning period. It is recommended to purchase mice at a later time point to allow time for acclimation and disease progression after shipping. Metabaxis recommends a pilot study to determine the appropriate number of mice to order for a specific study type.
Metabaxis also offers custom diet conditioning for any commercial or customer-provided strain as part of its Custom Colony Design.
